As a lifelong Star Wars fan, 2016 was a really rough year. I was devastated when I heard that our sweet, beloved princess – Carrie Fisher – had passed away. I don’t think it’s something that anyone saw coming.

I think I can speak for the entire fan base when I say that we were all enthralled with the fact that the original holy trinity – Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie – were returning to the new Star Wars films.

Unfortunately, Carrie’s final performance was in The Last Jedi. She was supposed to return for episode 9, and her passing left fans wondering what would become of her character in the next installment of the franchise.

J.J. Abrams announced that they would be using leftover footage of Carrie from The Last Jedi in episode 9. They felt it wouldn’t be doing her legacy justice by hiring a replacement actress or simply using CGI.

Personally, I think this is the perfect decision. No one could ever replace Carrie and CGI just wouldn’t be the same. Pretty awesome. You can catch Star Wars Episode 9 at Marcus Parkwood Cinema this December.
