Paul McCartney closed out the Olympics Opening Ceremony on Friday night with his rendition of Hey Jude. So, how much did he make off the appearance?

Rumor has it that Paul McCartney makes somewhere in the neighborhood of $2.2 million dollars per show. This performance had to be one of the biggest of his career, but he made virtually no money doing it.

All of the musical performers volunteered to be a part of the chaos and in return they were paid one British pound which comes out to about a buck 50 American. The musical performers had said that they would do it for free, but in order to sign a binding contract, they had to be paid something, so they were each paid one pound. The dancers and actors that you saw during the Opening Ceremony were paid nothing.

Would you have performed for free? I would have done it just to say I did it. That, and I love the Olympics.
