World’s Quietest Room an Hour from St. Cloud
The world's quietest room. Sounds almost unbelievable. Like what makes the quietest room in the WORLD? The room is actually in the Guinness Book or World Records as being the quietest room.
The room is actually a studio located in Minneapolis. It's called the Orfield Labs. And it used to be the Sound 80 Studios. Several artists recorded there, a couple worth mentioning would be Bob Dylan, Prince, Cat Stevens, Lipps, Inc, and also the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.
Tours are normally available at the site, but because (again) of COVID restrictions and protocols, those tours have been suspended. But normally, and hopefully soon, you will be able to experience what a place that is super quiet is like. They even hold corporate events. The studio was also used by Paramount Pictures when they were promoting the movie "A Quiet Place". When those events are available, the studio can be booked for a half day or a full day event. Tours will show as much or as little as the group would like. But it would be pretty cool to see how sound proof the studio is. They will also host wine and cheese parties, so if that's your thing, you can book that as well... when it's safe to do so.
If you would like to experience the "Orfield Challenge" there is that option too... for a price. There are some things that you need to do to prepare for the challenge. This would be a cool challenge to see how sound proof the studio really is... but it's not cheap.
Anyway, hopefully this will all be available again in the near future.
