It's always nice to see an employer step up and go that extra mile to take care of their employees. Dollar General probably isn't a place to work if you are planning on getting rich, so paying for the vaccine to keep their employees healthy is a nice gesture.

Dollar General is stepping up and paying their employees to what works out to be 4 hours of their regular pay to cover the cost of getting vaccinated. The company is stopping short of mandating getting the vaccine but want to encourage workers to take advantage of the offer. Dollar General is offering the extra payment in case someone might be planning on not getting the vaccine due to financial reasons.

Dollar General issued this press release: "We do not have an on-site pharmacy and currently do not have systems in place for employees to receive a vaccine at their work site. We do not want our employees to have to choose between receiving a vaccine or coming to work, so we are working to remove barriers (e.g., travel time, mileage, child care needs, etc.) by providing frontline hourly team members with a one-time payment equivalent of four (4) hours of regular pay after receiving a completed COVID-19 vaccination and salaried team members with additional store labor hours to accommodate their time away from the store.  We’re also working with our distribution and transportation teams to make similar accommodations for those teams."
