Viking running back had sports hernia surgery today and revealed he sustained the injury in week 10 and played the rest of the season with the injury.
Viking running back Adrian Peterson should be named Most Valuable Player for the 2012 NFL season Saturday. Peterson led the NFL in rushing with 2,097 yards and 12 touchdowns. Peterson is also coming off a torn ACL in his left knee in week 16 of 2011.
Viking quarterback Christian Ponder was limited in practice Wednesday due to a sore elbow. He sustained the injury when he hit the helmet of a Packer player on his follow through. He stayed in the game and is expected to play Saturday at Green Bay.
The Vikings practiced without running back Adrian Peterson, safety Harrison Smith, cornerback Antoine Winfield, and linebacker/special teammer Tyron McKenzie.
The Vikings won 21-14 at home against the Chicago Bears Sunday. Minnesota went out to a 14-0 lead and led 14-7 at halftime. The Vikings got a 56-yard interception return touchdown from Harrison Smith in the 2nd half that helped secure the win.

Viking head coach Leslie Frazier met the media Monday giving an update on injuries. Both tight end Kyle Rudolph and safety Harrison Smith suffered concussions Sunday will need to pass post concussion tests to be cleared to play Sunday at Green Bay.

Jay Cutler coming back from a concussion threw for 188 yards and 1 touchdown with 1 interception for the Bears. Michael Bush ran for 60 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Bears.
Peterson allegedly refused to leave the Houston night club back in July and became combative with staff. He was scheduled for a court appearance in Texas on Thursday.
The Vikes led 13-3 at halftime and held on in the 2nd half. AP ran for 27 carries and 1 touchdown plus a 2-point conversion.

Peterson sat out because of an illness but is expected to play Sunday against Detroit. Harvin missed a 2nd straight day of practice with an ankle sprain. Harvin was spotted in the locker room limping badly.
