If you were growing up in the Mid 60's in the U.K. you might remember the music chart TV show titled, 'Top Of The Pops', the show ran it's course til about 2006.

Similar to The Ed Sullivan Show in The U.S. if you were to get an appearance on Top of the Pops, you were pretty much guaranteed a massive boost in record sales.

The Kinks made several performances on Top of the Pops, for that they paid tribute on their ,'Lola versus The Powerman' and the Moneygoround, Part One' LP from 1970. Early episodes of Top of the Pops were aired from Dickenson Studios in Manchester, England back in 1964.
