Originally known as The Patriots, The Fixx was formed in 1979 in England by college buddies Cy Curnin and Adam Woods, although when they first named the band it only had one "x". When signed by MCA Records in 1981, they felt The Fix too closely resembled drug references. So, another "x" was added and both sides moved on. "One Thing Leads To Another" hit #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1983 and was even featured in a Grand Theft Auto game.
