Tis the season for Christmas decorating. Some people have already raided their collection of holiday themed items that have been stashed away, while others are only beginning to go through those items that have been stored for the last 11 months.

And nearly every year, the discovery of something that was broken while being packed away, or that is just not worthy of being put on display again happens.

If only you could have discovered that over the summer instead of when your budget is focused on paying your bills and your Christmas shopping list.

If you need or just want to add to your Christmas decorations, and you don’t want to have to spend a bundle doing it, I’ve found just the place.

Shalom Thrift Store in Cambridge.

I had heard about the big sale they have for the Christmas holiday, so my wife and I ventured there on Saturday to check it out for ourselves.

The sale starts in early November and leads up to the big day. What we found was a bigger selection than most thrift stores with many different types of Christmas decorations.

In addition to all the decorative items, there was a fairly big selection of ornaments that were in a few different places around the store.

If you prefer to have an artificial tree, we were not only surprised at the collection of trees at Shalom, but at the quality of the trees that were on display.

If you enjoy having Christmas themed dishes, you’ll find a good selection of these items as well.

Shalom is more than just Christmas decorations; they have a good selection of the items you’d expect to find at a thrift store. We found their prices to be better than most, and the store was clean and organized.

There’s even a dressing room to try on clothing items, which is hard to find in thrift stores these days.

One thing to note about Shalom, their hours are a little limited, Monday-Friday from 9-4 and Saturday 9-3. The Shalom Thrift store is right off Highway 95 on 1st Ave. East in Cambridge.
