Polaris has recalled their RZR XP 1000 and RZR XP 4 1000 off-road vehicles. The issue is that the positive battery terminal can become damaged by the seat base which in turn can cause the positive battery post to be exposed and come in contact nearby conductive components. If that happens, a fire could be started, which isn’t good.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that around 21,000 of these two models were sold around the United States and another 1,300 were bought in Canada.

Polaris will send registered owners a full battery cover that they can either install themselves or take to an authorized Polaris dealer for installation.  Here’s the link with the instructions.

Polaris has also recalled their Ranger Recreational Off-Road Vehicle, ProXD and Bobcat Utility Task Vehicles due to the possibility of an injury from a problem with the passenger side seatbelt.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says that the seatbelt anchor point that is attached to the frame of the vehicle can separate due to a defective weld.

The seatbelt could not work properly due to this which can lead to injury or passengers can be injured by the loose bracket.

The resolution to this situation is if you own one of these vehicles, you should stop riding with passengers immediately and then have the issue checked at an authorized Polaris dealer. If a repair is needed it will be free.

Around 2,500 of these vehicles have been sold in the United States.
