Structures by Anton’s Torn Down, Anton’s Still Open
As we all know, restaurants and bars have been hit rather hard during this pandemic over the last 10 months. Finally, this past Monday, they were allowed to open up again with some restrictions. Not all restaurants opened up on Monday. There are some that are still closed, and there are some that have been opening up gradually.
Anton's Restaurant in Waite Park opened yesterday (Wednesday). But right before that happened, the greenhouse and the woods near the bridge that brings you into Anton's parking lot were torn down and cleared away.
There was a greenhouse and part of the woods that has been cleared away. Their Facebook page has some more information as to what the buildings that were cleared away were originally used for. It does sound like there will be some other small businesses that will eventually be there. Not franchise businesses.
According to Anton's Facebook page, they will be open now through Sunday. Their regular hours for the foreseeable future will be Wednesday through Sunday from 3:30-8PM. Reservations are required. They were concerned that people would think that they weren't open because of the construction going on right at the entrance. And want to reassure their customers that they are definitely open and would love you to stop in for dinner.
Since Governor Walz has loosened the restrictions on bars and restaurants, area businesses would like you to please adhere to the protocols that have been put in place. Even if you disagree with them, please do it, mostly so they can remain open. The fear is that if Minnesota has a third shutdown, that could be the end to many businesses in the area; many of which are already hurting because of this.
As they say, we are in this together, and we need to take care of it together.
