Radio has changed quite a bit since I was a kid. It seems "broadcasting" has morphed into "narrowcasting".

When i was a kid in the 60's, there was a popular music radio station in my hometown. It was KUTT-AM and played everything that was popular at the time. There was no Top 40, Adult Hits or Rock formats. It was just a mix of everything.

In the 70's, as FM radio gained steam, this format seemed to flourish. On the Pop station, you'd hear Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Elvis, Hall & Oats, Rolling Stones, Phoebe Snow and just about anything else new.

As a teen, my favorite radio station was KAAY-AM out of Little Rock, Arkansas. It only came in at night and featured one of the best rock jocks I've ever heard.  Clyde Clifford's Beaker Street at night. What a talent. Weekends, they ran Beaker Theater and played old time style radio theater which was always scary.

What did you listen to growing up?
