Who’s The Most Overrated Band?
We all have our favorites and they're our favorites for a variety of different reasons. For this question, we will stick to rock bands. We could do country, which I find mind numbing, so rock it is.
I've been working rock/classic rock radio for over 35 years and there are certain bands that I play on the air that aren't really on my favorites list. But they are other people's favorites and everyone has different tastes in music.
For instance, I love Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Clapton and any band he's been in, Pink Floyd, etc.
I hear some people who think U2 is overrated. Maybe, but they have hung in there and they do have a pretty strong fan base. How many bands have played US Bank Stadium?
If I had to name what I consider the most overrated band I'd have to say, without reservation, KISS. I always put them in the same category as The Monkees and the Archies. They sell more lunch buckets than they do records. Some love KISS and we're all different. I can live with that.
Someone once told me that the Rolling Stones were overrated. Really? They could be the most successful rock band still touring. Over 50 years of selling out stadiums and still going strong. Oh, and they've sold a few records, too.
What band do you consider overrated?
