Could Mork be headed back to Earth? It seems Robin Williams’ bite from the TV acting bug might have been bigger than his recent ‘Louie‘ and ‘Wilfred‘ appearances, as the legendary funnyman may have his eye on a new gig at CBS. But what could have lured Williams back to a regular role after over 30 years off the tube, and why does the project have ‘Mad Men‘s Don Draper feeling a shiver up his spine?
Ever since the departure of Steve Carell from ‘The Office,’ rumors have swirled that the series would either reboot, or close its doors entirely, particularly after the show struggled to find its footing absent its headlining star in season 8. Stars departed, a spin-off geared up, and now the verdict has officially arrived that ‘The Office’ season 9 will indeed be the show’s last. But, will any major characters return? And what’s the big twist?
Sad news to report today, as former ‘Welcome Back, Kotter’ star and noted acting teacher Ron Palillo died this morning of a heart attack, at the age of 63. Palillo was reportedly found by his lifelong partner Joseph Gramm early this morning in their Beach Gardens home, before being taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. The news was reported by one of Palillo’s close personal friends.
For those still worried about ‘The Office‘ season 9, what with its ever-diminishing array of stars following the departure of James Spader, show-runner Paul Lieberstein, Mindy Kaling, and eventually the reduced presence of both B.J. Novak and Rainn Wilson, there’s good news! In addition to a finalized deal for Clark Duke to join the series, ‘The Office’ season 9 has just picked up yet another fresh-faced regular in actor Jake Lacy. But, who will the former ‘Better With You’ star play?
The internet has been abuzz that ‘Saturday Night Live‘ might be losing yet another cast member / writer, at least in a regular capacity, as rumors floated that ‘Weekend Update’ vet Seth Meyers might be ready to take the big job with Kelly Ripa after Regis Philbin’s retirement. Meyers has been pretty mum up until now, filling in for Regis this past week, but now the ‘SNL’ star is giving his definitive answer.
We all know that ‘The Office‘ is going to look pretty different next year, what with Mindy Kaling and James Spader departing, Paul Lieberstein stepping down as show-runner, Ed Helms, John Krasinski and B.J. Novak all taking on reduced roles, and Dwight potentially spinning off, but who’s going to actually join the ensemble? We also knew that Catherine Tate would join ‘The Office’ season 9 as a new series regular, but the latest reported to join Dunder-Mifflin is a pretty ‘Kick-Ass‘ former ‘Greek’ star.
Being Upfront week, CBS is hard at work announcing and promoting its new series, as well as plotting out ways to incorporate them into the current schedule. Today a big move for the network’s flagship comedy ‘Two and a Half Men‘ is in the works, but what does it mean for its other comedies? Who’s getting a big promotion, and who will be joining the ‘Men’ trio on their new night?
Let the reign of Seth MacFarlane continue! Where once ‘Family Guy‘ had been cancelled and seemingly gone forever, eight years later FOX announces that the series will indeed return for an 11th season, while its spiritual spin-off ‘American Dad‘ will return for an eighth alongside it. So with Seth MacFarlane’s first two series renewed, what’s to become of ‘The Cleveland Show?’
Though the negotiation efforts were far tamer than last year’s mad dash scramble to replace Charlie Sheen in CBS’ most popular sitcom, now ‘Two and a Half Men‘ fans can rest easy that Walden, Alan and Jake will return for a tenth season of the long-running series. Whether or not they secured the lucrative pay hikes sought, is another matter.
It’s been a solid two years since ‘LOST‘ finally ended its historic run with the divisive, yet aptly-titled “The End,” but the rumor mill hasn’t stopped churning with ideas and possibilities for a way to continue the Island stories so richly chronicled on ABC. After all, with many of ‘LOST’s mysteries still unresolved, even by the supposed “epilogue” included on the DVD, isn’t a return trip due?
You know, we can remember back when Jimmy Fallon was just that giggly guy on ‘Saturday Night Live‘ who couldn’t hold it together even moments through a sketch, and now, he’s a spokesman for Capital One, late night media darling, and now, sitting down with the President. Ain’t life funny?
