As the season comes to a close, the summer of 2024 will be remembered as a wetter than normal summer in Central Minnesota. We had some strong storms in the area, but most of the more dangerous weather was in the southern part of the state.

Even though most of the rougher weather was south of us, there were still heavy downpours, along with downed trees, even a few tornados touched down around the state.

Even as recent as last week, we had a thunderstorm warning that caused damage in Central Minnesota from the storms that developed from the system.

A retreat in Isanti is still being affected by that storm. Reports state that the Pacem in Terris Hermitage Retreat Center is still trying to get back to normal.

The trails on the 240-acre area have not been passable due to downed trees and limbs. There are 25 buildings on the property and 13 of those suffered damage in the storm.

The roads running to the property were blocked for three days following the August 26th storm.

The process of cleaning up the property will take a very long time because there were more trees put down late last week from another round of storms that blew through the area.

The retreat, which offers peace and tranquility, suggests a nightly rate of $140 but they ask their guests to prayerfully seek how much they should give to stay there.

There is a fundraising page set up to help with the expenses caused by these storms.

Find out more about the retreat here.

As serious as the damage was to the property, there were no injuries reported. There were four guests staying at the retreat when the storm struck.
